I just finished up a book called Concentric Circles of Concern. It was written by a man named Dr. Oscar Thompson. The premise of the book is that God has stategically places people into our lives. There are 7 stages of circles. It starts with your self and then goes out into your family, relatives, friends, neighbors, associates, acquaintances, and ends up with person x. Person x is the person you might encounter 1 time.
Thompson tells us that God has placed each person in our lives for us to have an impact on each one of them. God made us for relationships. It starts with a vertical relationship with Him, and then goes from there.
I got some really good thoughts from this book. The biggest one that stuck out to me is the need for us to serve others. Jesus was the prime example of this. He did not come to this world to be served, but to serve others.
I have the most impact in other peoples lives by serving them and meeting their needs. That is where God is challenging me right now. This book challenged me to intentionally look to the people that God has put into my life. Some of them are already believers, some are not. I must look at all of them and re-evaluate God's purpose for me in their lives.
