Please bare with me as I try and get a new blog template. Hopefully in the next couple of days, I will get something better.

Is Church even important?

This is a really important question for me since my life has and is centered around church. Why is Church even a big deal? What's the point? Why can't I just worship by myself at home with the TV or in nature. As a Christian, why would church even matter? What's the point?

I like what Perry Noble says on his blog. Here are some reasons he gave about the church being important...

#1 - If church isn’t that important - then why does Matthew 16:18 say that Jesus built it? Would the Son of God actually spend time building something that was worthless?
#2 - If church isn’t that important - then why does Scripture say in Acts 20:28 say that Jesus shed His blood for it? Would the Son of God have been willing to endure the suffering He went through for a meaningless organization?
#3 - If church isn’t that important - then why does Ephesians 1:22 & Colossians 1:18 say that Jesus is the Head of it? Would Jesus REALLY be the Head of something insignificant and trivial?
#4 - If church isn’t that important, if church isn’t “needed” to learn about God…then why does Ephesians 3:10 say that it was through the church that the wisdom of God should be made known?

You also can't leave this out. "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25)

In my years of ministry, I have met people that both do attend and don't attend church, that do not have a clue what it is about. What is it about? What is it's role? What is our job as Christians in it?

Please let me encourage you. If you are a believer and you don't attend a church for whatever reason, please study about the church. Understand what it is really about. Maybe you haven't been to a church that is doing it's job. That could be your first problem Maybe you haven't stayed long enough, or have not gotten involved. That might be the main problem.

If you are attending a church, but are not giving back to it in any way (serving). Shame on you. Get involved. Jesus died for the church. Come on now!

Simply Christmas

We had a great program this past weekend. I will add some more pictures and video here in the future, but I just wanted to start with a few for now. I actually stole these from Alisha Beverly. Thanks Alisha.

I was very pleased with the program. God did some amazing things. If you would like to watch it, you can go to this link. http://www.babchurch.org/resources.htm Go to the weekend of December 13, 14.

So many people did so awesome. The band, vocalist, drama, sound, media, lighting, stage hands, kids, and others did an amazing job. I could go on about it, but it would take a lot of time.

I am very blessed to be part of this church with so many amazing and talented people. Thank you for all that were a part of this amazing weekend.

This week.

It is one of those busy good weeks. There is a lot going on. I will fill you in.

-We have our Church Christmas program this week. It is called "Simply Christmas". It will be the biggest program we have done since I have been at Broadway. It is going to be good. The music, drama, kids, and adults are going to be great. Make sure to invite someone to it. It will be worth it.

-Please pray for the program, as we are really praying that their will be many people there that don't know Christ. My prayer is that it will be an impactful program and they would see Jesus clearer through it.

-My kids are getting ready for the program as well. They are going to be singing and dancing. So they have been practicing away at home for it.

-We had a great Christmas Party at church this past Sunday. It was pretty full, and we had a great time hanging out as a church. There was some funny stuff there.

-This is a crazy busy week for me personally. We have that Christmas program, but I also have a final and a 7 page paper due for my class as well. It is one of those weeks. If you would, please keep me in your prayers. After Sunday night, I can take a breather.

-I am looking forward to the beginning of the year. We will be launching our new name for our Church. It is going to be exciting.

There is a lot of great things happening at our church and me personally. I hope you have a great week.

Thankful

-This is the sourdough bread Turkey we had on Thanksgiving day at Disney Land.

It is that time of the year when we really focus on what we are thankful for. I could list a ton of things that I am thankful for. I Thessalonians 5:18 says, "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

I am thankful for God's love for me. I know I do a lot of stupid things, and He still puts up with me. I am thankful for my wife Heather. She does way more for me than I ever do for her. She is truly a blessing. I'm thankful for my kids. I am blessed with 3 really great kids. Here are some other things that I am thankful for.

-Broadway Avenue Baptist Church (Soon to be Bridgpoint Church)
-Everyone involved in the worship ministry at our church. (I am blessed to work with a lot of great people)
-House
-Health
-All the small things we take for granted (clothes, food, ect.)
-Boise
-Our Small Group
-Great friends
-Ability to provide for my family
-All of my family, (Parents, brothers, n-laws, ect)
-Lots of other things

I asked my children what they were thankful for and this is what they said...

Cassi-Is thankful for everything that God made.
Trevar- Is thankful for his family.
Christopher- Is thankful for our house.

What are you thankful for?
